The Huntress Cowl..

I am a huge huge Hunger Games fan. And Jennifer Lawrence fan. Read all the books prior to it becoming a movie and am still crazy about it. (FYI everyone needs to read the Divergent series as well as The Fault In Our Stars before they come out as movies this year... DFTBA!) So when I saw the latest Catching Fire I immediately fell in love with Katniss's knitted cowl/shawl one shoulder attire.

This one.. to those who haven't seen it yet -__-

I found this free pattern on Ravelry and knitted away! Geez I love Ravelry. I followed this pattern mostly.. adjusted for my broad shoulders though. It did take awhile for me to learn the herringbone stitch but YouTube saved the day! Thanks guys. And here is the finished piece :)

Not exactly the same but close enough for me!! I love love it. It's too bad its too warm here in southern california for me to actually wear it about.

Happy Belated New Year!!

So it has come to my attention that I have not blogged in quite awhile.. my apologies for that. I have just been enjoying my time off from school (it was too short) and am taking time during my lecture to blog now heehee. So Happy late New Year!! I spent the holidays working.. the cons of a job in healthcare.. but its okay I did get Christmas off. This is going to be a quick catch up post. Not a lot of new projects just stuff I've seen on and around Pinterest and Ravelry :)

I didn't have enough time to make much homemade Christmas gifts this year.. just knitted up a bunch of scarves from this quick pattern I found on Ravelry!

Sooo.. that was pretty much it. And for myself.. this awesome mustache neckwarmer. It was pretty simple and cute! That is if you're not tired of mustaches :) Planning to make another one similar to that of Jax Teller from SOA. Love love that show.

More projects to share.. but I'm not going to put them all in one post :) Soooo see you later!

Baby Quilt #3

Another baby quilt for a cutie named Katherine.. but since they call her Kate, I took the easy way out and just appliqued her nickname :). I'm sure her parents won't mind. I found this super cute Jay-Cyn Design for Birch fabric of whimsical bicycles (since one of her parents' fav pasttime is biking..)  and made this quilt a little less feminine than Chloe's.

A close up of the bike fabric that I used for the back. Its so cute I looove it!!

By the time I found it, the fabric was already sold out.. so thank you etsy haha! Congrats Kevin and Karen on your baby she's adorable :)

Three Year Anniversary!

So.. thank you to the four people that entered my contest HAHA. (Probably not going to do that again) And the winner is..
Actually my high school french teacher haha.. Mlle Verner!

Félicitations!

Of course whats a celebration without some cake! I tried follow this hydrangea cake tutorial from iambaker with this mini cake that I baked.. but it didn't come out very awesome. The petals are off.. I think it may be the consistency of my buttercream. Oh well.

Mimosa Birthday Brunch

It was my friend's birthdays recently (so many May birthdays!) and I had an idea to throw a mimosa bar/birthday brunch. The day didn't exactly go as planned but the food came out pretty good. It was more of a mix of homemade and pre-frozen assistance from Trader Joe's :)

The table.

The food.

1. Hashbrown nests. I cheated and used frozen hashbrowns hehe.
2. Simply a layer of vanilla Greek yoghurt, berries, and another layer of yoghurt :)
3. Magnolia's banana pudding. (I put them in the little canning jars. So cute!) And its ah-mazing. Now I don't have to drive down to LA for my cravings!!
4. Simple vanilla cake with sliced strawberries in the center and this (also) amazing buttercream frosting.

A close up of the macaron cake.

The macarons are from Napoleon's Macarons. So good! They have this vanilla creme brulee flavor that I have yet to figure out how to make. And yes, my frosting techniques still definitely need some work :/ but its not bad looking from far away hahah.

Anyhow.. Happy Birthday Linda, Happy Birthday Cheryl!!  Love you two :)
