Recycled Dog Sweater :)

Saving money is always awesome. So is saving the environment. Thats why when you combine both its like the ultimate awesomeness.  My little senior at home gets cold around this time and we couldn't find the sweater my sister spent $30 on him last year. Sooo I took an old red zip-up hoodie. cut off one of the sleeves.. trimmed the ends and added two armholes.. and VOILA! A recycled dog sweater.
Here's Senior #1 (aka Skippy) modeling his new dog sweater

Soo.. my Senior #2 (aka Penny) became a little jealous that Skippy had a sweater on and she didn't. AND me, not wanting to shell out the $60 for a sweater for a large dog; took the rest of the hoodie, cut off the other arm, whipped out the sewing machine and took in the sides of the hoodie to fit her waist.. and VOILA! Another dog sweater for her :)

Senior #2 happy about her cute hoodie :)

And now, everyone is one big happy family again :)

Bitten by the yarn bug.

So usually around this season, I get really crazy with buying yarn and making all these new scarves and beanies for the upcoming winter. :) So far, I have a very large collection of yarn and not that many scarves and beanies made haha. AND Christmas is coming so I must really get started. I mean, nothing is better than a handmade gift from the heart ;) Here's what I have so far

Cheshire cat beane ( in case you can't tell OR don't know who the Cheshire cat is.. please rent Disney's Alice in Wonderland :) )

I found this pattern @ lionbrand.com. So cute.. and reminiscent of something I would find at anthropologie :D

My New Friend Hobbes

So I woke up Thursday morning SICK, and I hate being sick because I can't work if I'm sick and I need to work bc I need money :( Anyhow long story short I spent the whole weekend on my bed watching How I Met Your Mother and feeling bad for myself bc my bf AND my sister were away having fun this weekend and I was stuck at home. So in the midst of my fever-ish deliriums and sweat attacks, I had the time to create a new friend to cry to when everyone else is gone. I've been meaning to make him for awhile, because hello next to Snoopy, Calvin and Hobbes is like the best comic ever. And here he is! Hobbes, my new sick buddy :)

Stacy, and her new friend Hobbes :)

Applique Fun and other stuff

So I've been recently inspired to applique baby onesies, and thought, what about some of my sweaters? So I had some fun adding cuteness to my hoodies :)

I said it more than once, and I'll say it again; I loove this fabric :)
Anyone for some tea? :D

Just because cephalopods are awesome :)
And just a note; it was mighty ambitious of me to applique this considering I'm still quite the beginner. Let me tell you, it was pretty labor intensive, and I'm glad it came out pretty decent :)

A panda I made awhile back for my panda friend :)

Continuing with the fluffy creatures, I made one in PURPLE! Next time, I should write down what I do, so it makes it easier for me to recreate what I just made hahaha

It's so fluffy I'm going to DIE! :)

So I went to Vegas this weekend and we ended up going to Circus Circus for lunch. I remember it being the best place ever (next to Disneyland) when I was a kid because of all the toys I won! I was so excited because this time I wanted to win myself a unicorn.. mostly bc of Despicable Me.

Long story short, there was no unicorn and I found a turtle but failed to win that :( So I came back with the idea that I would make myself CUTER ones :) Since I couldn't find a pattern for a unicorn, here's my first attempt at creating one. I think it came out okay.

I used glitter yarn for the mane because you know, unicorns are magical like that. ehehe.
And here's my turtle.. I love turtles! :D

From the awesome book amigurumi two
Yay! Now I have to awesome-ly fluffy things. I'm so happy :)

Babies! :)

Everyone around me is having babies! YAY!! I love making cute baby things with super cute fabric from japan :) The blocks were intially supposed to be actual wood blocks from Michaels, but I've been having so much fun with applique I figured screw it! It would be waaaay cuter with all the extra fabric scraps that I had to make fabric blocks! And I think they came out pretty cute. A little big, but cute :)
I think by far this is my favorite fabric. Who doesn't love Alice in Wonderland?

I love the Stitch fabric, it's so cute :)

This is the first blanket I've ever finished and I'm so proud of it hehe. I love the rippled effect, it reminds me of the ocean. I hope little Ivan will enjoy it.

Since baby Ivan resides in Poughkeepsie, NY, I shipped them the box and didn't hesitate to use my new stamps that I bought. I looooove them. So cute Ana is amazing it looks just like the amigurumi that I enjoy crocheting :)

So I was playing around on the internet, and found this link. 365 Dress for $365 This girl is AMAZING. Talk about inspiration. In one year she'll spend less on clothes than I do in a month. Which is sad but true. I am learning so much from her, maybe next time when I'm tempted to shop I should head for Goodwill instead of Anthropologie ;)

First Entry

Hello, so I decided to start a blog to chronicle the things that I like to do and explain to my friends why I'm such a square-y homebody. (Actually I'm not but they don't exactly approve of my "grandmother" hobbies hehe) Uh.. right now I have nothing.. haha but I'm have a lot of projects that I'm working on simultaneously so hopefully I can get some stuff up soon :)
